Chiquitta – Letzter Teil

Her stern started moving because of the increased volume of water flowing down the Urubamba. As a result water started to flow into the boat through some of the broken boards. This was not good, not good at all! Now Patrick had to take action, because time was not on his side anymore. He had to do things which he had not learned about in college or anywhere else. He had to react to an emergency.

The possibilities were either to stay on the rock for the rest of his life or to swim ashore and get eaten by the crocodiles. He decided to try neither of them. But what was he supposed to do? He did not want his dream to be over. “Chiquitta” was all he had and ever wanted. He had worked so hard to make his plan work so that he did not want to go back and listen to his mom’s lecture and how she had known it from the beginning.

The decision he made turned out to be very wrong. He decided to wait a couple of hours maybe a day and then to react to the sudden change in his life. While he was sitting on his little boat he began to think about how the life on the Urubama had changed his life so much. From his point of view he had become a completely different person. And he was proud of himself. He had taught himself how to catch fish and crabs. He had learned about all the different kinds of animals and especially about crocodiles. While he was so lost in his thoughts he fall asleep.

The last thing he could remember was waking as he slipped into the water. “Chiquitta” had sunk completely and by the time he realized how far it was to the shore, ‘Darth’ and his pack were already telling him what they would have for dinner tonight.
